We have seen him at work with his friend Repin, but tonight we get to hear the Russian pianist in a solo recital. Now aged 36, he is arriving at a radiant maturity. The Russian repertoire, not surprisingly, is particularly dear to him, but he is equally at home in the Romantic period. So tonight's programme is tailor-made for him.
