Pascal Rophé combines the world premiere of the Eighth Symphony by Luc Brewaeys with magnificent French orchestral works that made musical history in the 20th century. Henri Dutilleux's violin concerto may have created less of a stir than Stravinsky's Rite in 1913, but its quality and sheer beauty won it, too, a place of honour in the repertoire of the future.
