On 5 May, the illustrious association which brings together around a hundred European festivals and stimulates international artistic cooperation voted in a new Executive Board. This board is now presided over by Jan Briers, Governor of the Province of East Flanders, and has Paul Dujardin as its Vice-President.
The European Festivals Association (EFA) organised its General Assembly on the occasion of the Rheingau Musik Festival. Its outgoing president, Darko Brlek, handed over to Jan Briers, who is now the 6th President of the EFA, created in 1952. Paul Dujardin, CEO and Artistic Director of BOZAR, was elected Vice-President and a third Belgian personality, Sophie Detremmerie, Business Director of the Festival of Flanders Brussels, joined the Executive Board. The European Festivals Association (EFA) represents more than a hundred festivals in Europe, 15 national associations of festivals and an international cultural network of more than 2,000 festivals in over 40 countries.
