François Lazarevitch and his Musiciens de Saint-Julien have put together a programme with secular French Baroque cantatas, inspired by mythology. Louis-Nicolas Clérambault (1676-1749), who was the master in the genre, plays a central role. His contemporaries Jean-Marie Leclair and Georg Philipp Telemann are also involved. The ensemble is small, intimate and virtuoso and is paired with the expressive soprano voice of Sandrine Piau, who remains faithful to the repertoire. She lends her voice to refined tales that are haunted by the gods and the elements. Opera is never far away!
