Joey Baron drums – Bram De Looze piano – Robin Verheyen saxophone

Robin Verheyen and Bram De Looze are undoubtedly among the leading figures of the contemporary Belgian jazz scene.  Both are virtuoso players, visionary composers and pioneering band leaders. And… they are both fans of Monk. For several years now they have been playing the repertoire of Thelonious Monk in duo. Prompted by BOZAR, they approached American percussionist, Joey Baron, to complete the trio. As long-time sparring partner of John Zorn (Massada, Naked City), Bill Frisell and Marc Copland, he more than deserves his place in the contemporary jazz scene. With his unbridled energy on the drums, he is challenging yet soothing at the same time. The ideal contender for a trio put together to honour the music of Monk.
