An entire weekend at BOZAR devoted to the spectacular coming together of the contemporary and the traditional. Eko Supriyanto grew up in the rich tradition of court dances and the martial arts, while today as a leading choreographer he presents the modern face of Indonesia. Wayang Hip-Hop is a powerful update of a centuries old shadow theatre with sneakers, beats and MCs, while with the Nan Jombang Dance Company the leading contemporary Indonesian dance troupe is coming to BOZAR. Musically, Voices from Papua provides a taste of the region's amazing cultural diversity while the experimental grandmaster I Wayan Gde Yudane will be showing that gamelan remains very much alive and relevant in the 21st century.
