Boris Giltburg has a real and profound passion for the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff. “I’d like to play his complete works for piano and there aren’t many composers I’d say that about”, he confides. “His music is so generous, beautiful and touching, it really feeds the imagination.” This is no doubt the secret behind his victory at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2013, which he won thanks to a lively and impassioned interpretation of Rachmaninoff’s Third Concerto. Since then, Giltburg has recorded a few more of the Russian’s masterpieces, including, most recently, the sublime 24 Preludes, which he will be performing in their entirety during a rich and moving recital.
