While visiting the impressive Widener Library at Harvard University, singer Katarina Livljanic stumbled across an anonymous Croatian text from the Renaissance period. Livljanic was immediately fascinated by this philosophical dialogue between reason and the spirit. She quickly devised a plan to combine this text with Marko Marulic’s masterpiece, Judith. Livljanic wrote a moving score with great sensitivity for the text, and a deep-rooted respect for the Croatian Renaissance sound idiom. The result is an unprecedented meditative reflection on the biblical figure of Judith.
