Raphaël Pichon

A few days before Easter, Pygmalion brings a team of top soloists in Brussels to present Bach's St Matthew passion. This score is one of the 'crown jewels' of western music, whereby Bach far surpassed the conventions of the genre.  Mendelssohn rediscovered the work at the beginning of the 19th century, after it had not been performed for over 100 years. Since then, this Passion has rarely been off the stage. And rightly so, because the storyteller, soloists and the dual choir give a stunning voice to the Via Dolorosa or Stations of the Cross.
