It may still be so that the best flamenco artists are Spanish, but the cream of the Belgian luthiers are undoubtedly the equals of their Spanish counterparts. During the flamenco week, there will be a unique exhibition on the making of flamenco guitars in Belgium. Various local luthiers, from advanced hobbyists to established professionals will exhibit their instruments. You will see half-finished components and specific tools and aids used in luthiery. The Centre for Musical Instrument Making from Puurs (CMB), a school in Belgium that teaches how to build flamenco guitars, will also be there. The exhibition takes place on 2 March in La Maison du Peuple in Saint-Gillis, and thereafter in BOZAR from 4 to 8 March, opposite the entrance to Hall M.
