Belgian National Orchestra – Antony Hermus conductor
Symphony no. 3, D 200 Franz Schubert
Symphony no. 3, op. 52 Jean Sibelius
Dutch conductor Antony Hermus is Principal Guest Conductor of the North Netherlands Orchestra. In 2019, he offered us Prokofiev's Cinderella Suite with the Belgian National Orchestra. At BOZAR, he focuses now on Symphonies No. 3 by Schubert and Sibelius. With melodic and formal inventiveness, Schubert's Symphony No. 3 is one of the many pieces the composer wrote on his 18th birthday in 1815. The same year he composed his Symphony No. 2, three operas, two masses and not less than 150 lieder! With its dense textures and roaring bass, Sibelius' Symphony No. 3 is another marvellous piece of music, written for a big romantic orchestra.
