Music of the spheres

The Belgian National Orchestra invites you to look up to the heavens and listen to three symphonic masterpieces. Depicting the course of the sun over the Aegean Sea, the Helios Overture expresses Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s fascination with the sublime landscapes he encountered on his trip to Athens. After being introduced to astrology by a friend, British composer Gustav Holst became so enthusiastic about the link between the position of celestial bodies and the earthly destiny of mankind that he decided to devote an orchestral work to it, which has become hugely popular: The Planets. Finally, Aram Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto promises a musical flight in the company of virtuoso violinist Nemanja Radulovic.
