Endangered Food from around the World

As our partners are prevented from travelling to Brussels due to the measures taken against the Coronavirus, we are forced to cancel this event. More information

The intangible cultural heritage of food in Europe is a rich yet underestimated resource. Over the last 60 years, thousands of varieties of cereals, fruits, vegetables, animal breeds, but also breads and cheeses have slowly disappeared from our fields and our plates.

The global Slow Food movement is on a mission to safeguard the diversity of food which representes a unique genetic, cultural, social and economic patrimony. Through the Ark of Taste project, it catalogues disappearing local food heritage from all over Europe and the world.

Salon Europa will host the interactive exhibition What You Didn’t Know Existed. Endangered Food from around the World. You will get the chance to discover some of the rare food products catalogued in Slow Food’s Ark of Taste and to explore Europe’s gastronomic heritage, at risk of disappearing.
