When they were young, cousins Ballaké and Baba Sissoko used to play music together. Both sons of musicians, they played together in the National Instrumental Ensemble of Mali. Each then went his own way, with Ballaké Sissoko pursuing an international career as a kora player. Baba plays the tamani, a drum with flexible tonalities. In 2019, their dream of a musical reunion came true in the form of their first duo album, Sissoko & Sissoko, a vibrant tribute to their fathers and the cultural heritage they left behind.
