Concerto for Violin and Orchestra Esa-Pekka Salonen
Oedipus rex Igor Stravinsky

The Swedish Radio Orchestra in a second concert with Esa-Pekka Salonen, this time conducting his own violin concerto, played by Canadian prodigy Leila Josefowicz. Among Stravinsky’s finest conductors, Salonen will then turn in a spectacular performance of the music drama Oedipus Rex, for which Jean Cocteau wrote the text that was translated into Latin. This will also be an occasion to display the talents of the world’s top male choir, Sweden’s Orphei Drängar. Based in Uppsala, they’ve been around since 1853.
