"Tell me, my daughters - since now we will divest us both of rule, interest of territory, cares of state - which of you shall we say doth love us most? That we our largest bounty may extend, where nature doth with merit challenge." It was in those words that Shakespeare's King Lear set about sorting out the issues of his succession with his three daughters. But father-daughter relationships can be infinitely more complex than Lear's disastrous equation between love and possessions. And inheritance can be something very different indeed. Those, essentially, are the issues raised by three She She Pop actresses with their fathers, who have been specially invited to join them on stage for the occasion. Score-settling, cross-examination, and misunderstandings succeed each other in this amusing and moving play that, little by little, reveals the mysterious contours of the Electra complex. A contemporary work about the inescapable generation gap. The Berlin performance collective's play has created quite a stir, both in Germany and farther afield.
