Calling Boris Berezovsky a virtuoso with impeccable technical abilities is stating the obvious. To win the renowned International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, which he did in 1990, means that an artist has reached the height of his skill. But, more importantly, he is capable of bringing warmth and life into some of the longest orchestral works. This quality is most appropriate when tackling Brahms's colossal Piano Concerto No. 2. After the break, Boreyko will ignite his team with Beethoven's equally majestic Symphony No. 3, one of the most pivotal works that marked the passage from classical to romantic music.
