Starting in 2014, the KlaraFestival will take place in the spring instead of in September. The first springtime edition, moreover, will mark the festival’s tenth birthday.
So there are reasons aplenty to make the 2014 edition a special one. Taking as its theme “The Belgium Connection”, it will set out to build bridges between the best Belgian performers and composers and their foreign colleagues. The festival will help to put Belgian musicians on the map worldwide and will also host prestigious orchestras, composers, and soloists from all over the world. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, for example, in Ravel with the international star Lang Lang. A look at some of the highlights shows that the rest of the KlaraFestival will also be of the highest quality: Haydn’s Die Schöpfung with Philippe Herreweghe and his ensembles, Mendelssohn’s Fifth Symphony with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and Ivor Bolton (in the context of the composer’s complete symphonies), and Handel’s La Resurrezione with Le Cercle de l’Harmonie and René Jacobs.A mouth-watering programme!
