The Blitz Theatre Group is a Greek company, one of the most innovative on the Athens stage, which has attracted widespread attention since impressing Thomas Ostermeier at a competition held in the Schaubühne in Berlin. Its new work, Late Night, presents, with a deep sense of things out of kilter, the outmoded round of human activity as it evokes a European society losing its bearings, one that grinds down individuals in an everyday life on which they no longer have a grip. The ballroom in which it is set speaks to us of our trivial habits and our frenetic activity through a range of characters who discuss, drink, sing, and dance. In a loop, of course. As in the Greek myth of eternal recurrence. This is a moving work, performed on the ruins of a past that awaits us, that confronts us with ourselves and puts us through a quite Felliniesque saga through the night.
