Two exceptional groups, Aka Balkan Moon followed by Burhan Öçal & Trakya All Stars whisk you away to the confines of Europe for an evening’s entertainment which has been put together in partnership with Europalia Turkey.
Since the very beginning, the Belgian group Aka Moon has taken an original approach to jazz and traditional music by combining it with funk and rock accents. The explosive sounds of their Balkan project Aka Balkan Moon, which was formed in 2012, are inspired by the traditions of South East Europe. As for the Turkish percussionist Burhan Öçal, he has worked with some of the greats, including Sting, Joe Zawinul, founder of the group Weather Report, the pianist Maria João Pires and the Kronos Quartet. At BOZAR, this virtuoso musician will be performing Trakya All Stars: a vibrant tribute to his home town, put together in collaboration with Roma musicians from Eastern Thrace.
