‘Ruben Machtelinckx & Arve Henriksen: A short story’

Belgian guitarist Ruben Machtelinckx has been involved in the world of improvised music for almost ten years, as a soloist, in the Machtelinckx/Badenhorst/Jensson/Wouters quartet and in collaborations (Skarbø, Økland, Jillings, Leroux). Norwegian trumpet player Arve Henriksen, who was the guest of honour at our Opening Weekend last September, is returning to the festival. In January 2022, the duo released their first album, A Short Story, of Aspen Edities; it is a warm twelve-track album combining the lively melodies and grainy sounds of Henriksen's trumpet with the tender arpeggios of Machtelinckx's acoustic guitar.
