While Belgium continues to decrease the measures against Covid-19, BOZAR has reopened several exhibitions. In the meantime - while we are waiting to welcome you back for the rest of our activities - we continue to offer you a special artistic programme on our digital platform, including concerts, performances and film screenings.
If you can't participate to culture, culture will come to you. You can enjoy music, expo, theatre, film, dance, lectures and debates and many more artistic expressions that make BOZAR so rich. From your living room you will be able to continue to share moments of deep emotions despite the circumstances we are going through.
Thanks to culture, let's be in solidarity with each other, let's enjoy the comfort that technology offers us, and let's get closer without putting ourselves at risk by enjoying one of the most beautiful experiences there is: culture.

To continue the celebrations after Pride Month, BOZAR and the British Counci invite you to the free online screening of Nowhere (2020) on Wednesday 8 July at 5 p.m. The film tells the story of a young Palestinian woman, who crosses the Israeli border illegally to find her long-lost brother, discovering the truth behind his exiled existence.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo celebrates the 60th anniversary of its independence. On this occasion, BOZAR presents a series of online artistic activities, created in cooperation with Congolese cultural artists and the country’s diaspora.
BOZAR is thrilled to present the first anthology of poetry by fashion designer, musician, painter, and Paris icon Vava Dudu. Vava’s poems are culled from language she prints and publishes on garments, as well as song lyrics from her electro-punk band La Chatte. In this book her texts are translated from French to English by New York artist, musician and educator Geo Wyeth, and edited by Castilian writer and curator Alberto García del Castillo.

The Congolese art scene is buzzing with incredibly talented young visual artists, such as Pamela Tulizo, Freddy Mutombo and Fransix Tenda Lomba. In June 2020, all three will be in Brussels for professional projects.
From the 22nd until the 30th of June, the EU and the UN co-chair the fourth Brussels conference on “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region”. With the devastating conflict entering its tenth year, a continued spiral of violence and instability and the subsequent suffering and displacement of millions of people, the Syrian crisis remains the worst humanitarian crisis in modern history.
Croatian cinema has witnessed the rise of a new generation of filmmakers who are not afraid to wander off the beaten paths and go beyond the picturesque tourist vistas and Game of Thrones locations. Although they were all born in the 1980s, these filmmakers vary wildly when it comes to style and sensibility – from confrontational to audience friendly; from non-fiction through fantasy. They each engage with local cinematic genres (e.g. Mediterranean comedies, coming of age stories) which they update from fresh, contemporary perspectives, proving that Croatia is not only “a small country for a great holiday”, but also a small country with great cinema.
BOZAR and Klara start off the summer with Trio Aries and musicians from La Monnaie. This fantastic initiative is part of the Klara on Tour project: a concert marathon on 21 June with Klara’s most important partners, including BOZAR.
The fourth edition of the multidisciplinary Afropolitan Festival was held from 28 February to 1 March 2020, and attracted over 5,000 people in a single weekend, which attests to a manifest and keen public interest in African and Afro-descendant contemporary artistic performances. A resounding success and a major undertaking, the festival has built up specific practices, as well as a reflection on the artistic and social challenges of such a cultural event.
Through the BOZAR at Home platform, the musicians of the Belgian National Orchestra present a series of concerts broadcast live from the Henry Le Boeuf Great Hall.
Each year three important German film festivals are represented in Brussels: the Forum of the Berlinale, DOK Leipzig and the Duisburger Filmwoche. BOZAR and the Chair Mahmoud Darwich invite you to explore the universal philosophy of this great poet, through the work of contemporary artists from the Maghreb and the Middle East. In 2020 the Chair wants to investigate imaginary futures, shaped by the anatomy of the past and characterised by the resilience of the present. Close to the realm of science-fiction, these artworks offer new readings of our geopolitical reality, and create space for free thinking.
On Sunday 3 May it's Difference Day again! The Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Erasmushogeschool Brussel, BOZAR, the Evens Foundation and IHECS join forces to highlight the importance of freedom of the press and freedom of expression. Due to the corona crisis, this edition will not take place at BOZAR, but online through a live stream from Pilar's Concert Hall on the VUB campus.
On 29 April 2020, we celebrate the 100th birthday of the artist, author, photographer and key figure in the Surrealist movement in this country, Marcel Mariën (1920-1993). Unfortunately, the corona crisis has put paid to the exhibition at BOZAR that was scheduled to start that very day, but thankfully you can now stroll through the nimble, colourful and extensive oeuvre of this bad boy of Belgian Surrealism in the comfort of your own home.

The 1960s and 1970s in Croatia were marked by an overall growth, expressed through industrialisation, urbanisation and search for a third path on the geopolitical spectrum. The prevailing optimism found its expression in contemporary art, as well as in modernist architecture. At the same time, cinema offered clever ways to confront the overall optimism with more sombre issues lurking beneath the joyful surface.

BOZAR and A+ Architecture in Belgium delve into their audio-visual archives to bring some of the most interesting architecture lectures to your screen.
What can we read in this time of worry and fear? Do we want books that give us a better grip on reality or do we prefer escapism? Many readers will be using this time to turn to those classics they have never got round to reading. In Search of Lost Time, The Magic Mountain and The Plague immediately come to mind. Less sensitive souls may find the science fiction or horror of Stephen King more to their taste.

During the spring 2020 lockdown, BOZAR invited a series of artists who had been initially scheduled to perform at the Centre for Fine Arts to present an alternate version of their concert. The national and international musicians, from the world of jazz, traditional, electronic, classical or early music, offered an intimate concert from their own homes. They invited the audience into their living rooms or rehearsal studios to share a moment of musical communion.
BOZAR, as well as other Belgian cultural institutions, is newly required to temporarily close. In order to keep spirits high, we encourage you to let music into your homes and relive simple, beautiful and comforting musical moments.
In spite of the confinement, thanks to BOZAR at home we offer you the comfort that technology offers us to allow you to visit our exhibitions from your living room.

During the exhibition Yves Klein.
