‘DIANE TELL "THAT SHE"’

Born in Quebec, to a Quebec father and an American mother, Diane took violin lessons at the age of six and later learned to play classical guitar. She then decided to specialize in jazz guitar. After several odd jobs, Diane Tell earns her pocket money by playing in the surrounding bars and jazz clubs or singing as a chorister.

In the meantime, she was a finalist in the "Les Ètoiles du maurier" competition. Very quickly, she was solicited from all sides and opened for Chris De Burgh, LÈo Sayer, Rick Derringer and John Mayall.

In the following years, Diane Tell released three other successful albums in North America, before flying to France in 1983. "Entre nous", "En flËche" and "ChimËres" were released in 1979, 1980 and 1982 respectively.

INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS
When she arrived in France, she released the album "On a besoin d'amour" in 1984, which was a huge hit. She then went on to perform on the biggest French stages, including the Olympia, where she was very well received.
She later confirmed her status as a great artist by composing the title "Faire ‡ nouveau connaissance" in 1986, using a text by FranÁoise Hardy. This single, as well as the album of the same name, are sold on a large scale throughout the four corners of the globe. She then went on to perform in concert halls, on European tours and at major festivals, such as the Francofolies de La Rochelle festival in 1987.

MUSICAL COMEDIES
In addition to her singing career, Diane Tell has also distinguished herself on the music scene for her performances in famous musicals. In 1990, she was one of the stars of the rock opera created by Luc Plamondon and Michel Berger, entitled "La lÈgende de Jimmy". Following her success in this musical adaptation of James Dean's life, she returned to the stage in 1992, this time as Marilyn Montreuil in the musical comedy of the same name. Most recently, towards the end of 2008, she again played one of the major roles in another musical, entitled "I could already see myself".

LETTERS OF NOBILITY
In nearly 40 years of professional career, Diane Tell has amassed a large number of important awards and letters of nobility. In 1980, for example, she was proclaimed Revelation of the Year at the ADISQ Gala. That same year, she won a FÈlix for best songwriter and honoured the colours of Quebec at the Festival de Spa. The following year, she won a Felix for the song "Si j'Ètais un homme", another for the album from which she was extracted, another in the category best songwriter and a Felix and Juno Awards for best performer of the year. In 1982, his album "ChimËres" won him a Midem Award. In 1986, she was awarded the Victoire de la musique for her album "Faire ‡ nouveau connaissance".

Since 2001, she has produced the album Popeline for BMG, 45 issues of the radio show Les Louves on France Inter, a jazz album: Doctor Boris & Mister Vian and collaborates with Serge "Farley" Fortin on many projects in Quebec, the guitar/voice album Une, the compilation PassÈ Simple and a new album planned for 2018.

In 2017, the song Si j'Ètais un homme was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young...
Diane Tell has collaborated with several major music stars, including Boris Bergman, Michel Berger, Maryse Wolinski, Luc Plamondon, JÈrÙme Savary, Robbie McIntosh, Maryline Desbiolles and FranÁoise Hardy.
