‘Lennert Baerts’

Lennert Baerts can definitely be called ambitious, always searching for that which he wants to give his own signature. He is therefore not only a saxophonist but also a composer. Meticulously he chooses the musicians he wants to play with, because they are an integral part of the search, of the creation. For his performance in the Henry Le Boeuf Hall (which he also sees as a large empty space to be 'filled up'), he invites guitarists Vitja Pauwels and Ruben Machtelinckx. Double bassist Nathan Wouters completes the quartet.

Vitja Pauwels moves like a fish in water across all possible genres and line-ups, from classical jazz to experimental electronics. Ruben Machtelinckx' artistic practice is also impossible to categorise. He and Nathan Wouters regularly share the stage in quartet formation. Nevertheless, they keep surprising each other on stage.
