Tango

Discover a world premiere of Sonico, an ensemble from Brussels that brings avant-garde tango back to life. On their fourth album, titled Five, Six, Seven, Eight... The Edge of Tango Vol. 2, Sonico performs the music of a fundamental ballet: Tango Buenos Aires by Eduardo Rovira (1958), a great avant-garde tango composer often wrongly considered as "the other Astor Piazzolla". The musicians of Sonico transcribed the music by ear from a 1962 record! This ballet was one of the first to be inspired by traditional tango and was also influenced by Igor Stravinsky. At Bozar, Sonico offers you a sneak preview of this music - which has not been played since the 1960s! The ensemble will play while choreographic performances are projected on to a large screen.
