In today's world where everything is communicated instantly, the dominant influence of globalisation is one of the main causes of the daily loss of ancestral memories. The stream of information and entertainment favours the rapid disappearance of ancient indigenous cultures of oral tradition. During four centuries, the regions of Eastern Europe remained on the fringes of the "greater Europe" and finally followed the path of modernisation, threatening to consign to oblivion many of the oral traditions passed down from one generation to the next. On the occasion of the See Festival, the renowned gambist Jordi Savall explores the Sephardic and Ottoman repertoires of the Balkans with musicians from a region that the Ottomans named ‘Bal Kan’ (honey and blood), in the 15th century. A wonderful ode to memory and the survival of traditions.
