Dutch author Niña Weijers – known for novels such as Kamers antikamers (Chambers antechambers) and De consequenties (The Consequences) – wrote the foreword to My Mother Laughs, Chantal Akerman’s well-known book that has now also been published in Dutch. In the book Akerman describes her childhood, her mother's escape from Auschwitz, and how their relationship shaped the work of the legendary filmmaker. During the performance at Bozar, Weijers talks about Akerman and her own work.
Melissa Giardina will interview her.
