Branford Marsalis is the grandmaster of the saxophone (and Wynton’s brother). He has performed with Sting and Miles Davis, he founded the band Buckshot Le Fonque and was the band leader on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In the past few years he has focused on more classical work, performing with several of the world’s leading orchestras (New York, Chicago, Tokyo, etc).
In 2014 the saxophonist recorded a solo album in Grace Cathedral, San Francisco. He performs this repertoire again, which consists of a mix of classical arrangements, standards and free improvisation in the unique setting of Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula.

The concert is part of a 3-day residency with Branford Marsalis:
- 26/03/20: Branford Marsalis Solo
- 27/03/20: Belgian National Orchestra feat. Branford Marsalis
- 28/03/20: Branford Marsalis Quartet

Did you know?

  • Two brothers, two destinies

One is a trumpeter, the other a saxophonist. One cannot imagine jazz without swing, the other willingly ventures to the boundaries of style. Brothers Wynton and Branford Marsalis each follow their own path. In February and March, we will host them successively for two series of exceptional concerts.
