Musical futures

Christophe Slagmuylder: "Classical music is not sacred or timeless. It is contemporary because it is being played and listened to today. Contemporary classical has experienced a striking rise in recent years. It draws from many soundscapes and blows away those who would try to label it. A great deal of contemporary classical music is being written, but it is not so often heard in our concert halls. This is where Bozar wants to step in. After all, music today best reflects what concerns us today, our challenges, and our diverse society."
