Balthasar-Neumann-Chor & Ensemble - T. Hengelbrock

This event can not take place due to the latest restrictions regarding COVID-19.

Brahms had his reasons for writing a German text for Ein deutsches Requiem and not using the original Latin language. He wanted to use this text to specifically address the close friends and families of those who were mourning loved ones.  The opening segment, with the words “Selig sind, die da Leid tragen (Blessed are they that mourn)”, clearly specifies this intention. The Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, under the leadership of Thomas Hengelbrock, which shone last season with Beethoven's Mass in C, is the perfect messenger for this sentiment of hope.
