The Encounter of Vocal Heritage

Since 2015 Voxtra brings together five incredible vocal traditions. Those exceptional musicians showcase Albanian isopolyphony, the cantu a tenore of Sardinian countryside, Beko blues singing of southern Madagascar, Finnish yoik and rune singing and Belgian narrative folk songs. This encounter between the traditions does not erase their specificities: each one keeps its identity. By combining their respective musical traditions, they have managed to create a unique repertoire with unheard sounds. In their breath-taking performance, the traditions engage in a dialogue with each other, the similarities come to the surface, but the emphasis lies on the uniqueness of each tradition.
