As classically trained musicians with an ear for experimentation, Echo Collective have spent years exploring the lines between classical and non-classical. In the past, they have collaborated with big names such as A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Joep Beving and Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson. Just a few years ago they appeared as guests of the latter in our main hall. Shortly before his death in 2018 Jóhannsson asked Echo Collective to record 12 Conversations With Thilo Heinzmann. But the composer passed away before completing the creative process, and for their recording for Deutsche Grammophon the string quartet had to make do with their final conversations with Jóhannsson. An intimate ode to a great composer.

Sadly, due to the coronavirus measures, Nuits Sonores cannot take place this time. But don’t despair! Nuits Sonores has also reinvented itself and is simply taking a different direction. A range of events will instead take place over the course of the year.
