A counterpoint masterfully made

The Bach Heritage Festival has been showcasing the many and inexhaustible influence of Johann Sebastian Bach on his successors since 2015. This new event offers a variety of concerts and shows that connect the German master with other art forms, other musical worlds, or simply with the refreshing energy of creative musicians. On the multidisciplinary side, Bozar presents J.S. Bach: das Kapital, a show that brings together dance, scenography, music and recitation to question our society's relationship to the economy and ecology, and a unique encounter between Fabrice Bihan's cello and Vincent de Lavenère's artistic juggling. Talented Norwegian improvisers Tord Gustavsen and Trygve Seim, like Bach, explore the intimate and profound world of chorales, while Belgian pianist Julien Libeer combines The Well-Tempered Clavier with choral masterpieces from every era, sung here by the Cappella Amsterdam. Other fresh minds are also involved, as the baritone Benjamin Appl tastes the delicious flavour of Bach's arias and the young chamber ensemble L'Apothéose brings the illustrious Brandenburg Concertos back to life. It promises some great moments of musical ingenuity!
