Nowruz

Bozar and Klarafestival mark the Persian new year celebration “Nowruz” with four artists who are breathing new life into their musical tradition. Homayoun Sakhi has been hailed as “the most innovative rubab player of his generation.” In his hands, Afghanistan’s national instrument sounds unbelievably virtuosic. The Afghan tabla player Siar Hashimi is also taking the tabla to new heights with his improvising skills. They share the stage with, among others, singer Ulzhan Baibussinova, one of the few female interpreters of the Kazakh oral poetry of Zhyrau.
