Bozar kicks off 2026 with a bold and cross-disciplinary film programme, echoing the season’s key themes. From rare films and artistic discoveries to immersive experiences, this new programme promises plenty of surprises. The first part of 2026 will dive into the work of five filmmakers through dedicated Close-ups. Among them, four remarkable women directors - Pilar Palomero, Courtney Stephens, Payal Kapadia, and Ana Vaz. Roberto Minervini will join us in June as the sole male filmmaker.
On the premiere front, La Forêt by Evi Cats traces the creation of the eponymous choreography by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Némo Flouret. I Only Rest in the Storm by Pedro Pinho examines the tensions of neocolonialism in Guinea-Bissau, while Magellan by Lav Diaz revisits the journey of a Portuguese explorer. With Toxic, delve into adolescent struggles and the quest for beauty, in dialogue with the Picture Perfect exhibition. The documentaries Hair, Paper, Water… and Fiume o Morte complete this rich selection.
The Art & Film programme - including Ho Tzu Nyen’s Carte Blanche - as well as the virtual reality screenings, further extend these artistic explorations, while Bozar Sundays offer carefully curated films for the whole family. The entire programme can be discovered in our cinema The 23.
