50 For the Future Marathon

String quartets from amateurs to professionals perform the '50 for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire' together.

In 2015, Kronos Quartet launched its '50 for the Future' repertoire, a contemporary repertoire of 50 compositions aimed at keeping the tradition of the string quartet alive and providing it with new repertoire. This so-called learning repertoire is freely accessible via the Kronos Quartet site and includes compositions by well-known contemporary composers such as Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, Garth Knox and Terry Riley, as well as non-Western composers such as Tanya Tagaq, Man Wu, Kala Ramnath and Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté.

On 17 November 2024, the legendary Kronos Quartet is coming to Bozar. In the context of this concert, Bozar and Ars Musica are organising an afternoon around the tradition of the string quartet. String ensembles of various levels will have the opportunity to give short concerts in the different halls of Bozar. The members of the Kronos Quartet will be present and wrap up the day with their promising concert.
