Contemporary design of Author Jewellery and Sculpture exhibition George PAVEL

Organised with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Brussels, the Romanian exhibition "Found.Lost.Found" is a contemporary reinterpretation of the symbolic and expressive Dacian jewellery, a tribute to a great, yet partly forgotten tradition.
The collection is signed by four of the most creative Romanian designers Ioana Ardelean, Maria Otilia Mihalcea, Adelina Petcan and Andreia Gabriela Popescu.
The exhibition, curated by David Sandu, came to life with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in collaboration with Assamblage. ‘Found.Lost.Found’ was part of this year's "Fashion Utopias" section of the International Fashion Showcase organized by the British Council and the British Fashion Council during London Fashion Week.
Designer Otilia Mihalcea (Oval) received the Accessories Design Award for the collection "Neotectonics", included in the exhibition "Found.Lost.Found", a first for Romanian fashion design.

GEORGE PAVEL
Sculpture exhibition
Born in a village in Dobrogea, Romania, GEORGE PAVEL is a sculptor with a deep understanding of his craft. The connection between man and the universe materialises in his work. His sculptures are loaded with tension, energy and vitality, enabling the connection between an earthly object and the infinite space.
Following his selection from a competitive field, George Pavel was commissioned to sculpt three monuments in Germany and in Cambridge, England. The Romanian public television has produced two films regarding the sculptor’s creation.
”In my fighting with hard materials (bronze, stone), I try to create tangible forms, harmonious and expressive in space. My art, my sculptures are the result of both physical and intellectual efforts. My effort is visible through the transfiguration of objective and subjective realities. The artists who have impressed me deeply are George Apostu, ceramic sculptor Costel Badea, Alexander Calder and most of all C. Brâncuşi.
The poetry of form is nothing to me but the aesthetic emotion I try to convey - the harmony of the sculpted form created by polishing the surfaces – the dialogue between empty and full -  between light and shadow.” George Pavel
