Branford, Wynton's brother, is a member of the famous Marsalis jazz family. Few artists have had such a rich and varied career. He has performed with Sting and Miles Davis, he founded the band Buckshot Le Fonque and was the band leader on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In the past few years he has focused on more classical work, performing with several of the world’s leading orchestras (New York, Chicago, Tokyo, etc.). In collaboration with the Klara Festival and the Belgian National Orchestra, he will perform the world premiere of Cassandra, a jazz standard by Branford Marsalis, which was reworked by Vince Mendoza at BOZAR's request. You can also enjoy a tribute to the 20th century American symphonic repertoire.

The concert is part of a 3-day residency with Branford Marsalis:
- 26/03/20: Branford Marsalis Solo
- 27/03/20: Belgian National Orchestra feat. Branford Marsalis
- 28/03/20: Branford Marsalis Quartet

Did you know?

  • Two brothers, two destinies

One is a trumpeter, the other a saxophonist. One cannot imagine jazz without swing, the other willingly ventures to the boundaries of style. Brothers Wynton and Branford Marsalis each follow their own path. In February and March, we will host them successively for two series of exceptional concerts.
