Brushing aside taboos with great delicacy, this show questions the notion of Aminata’s identity: that of a woman in Africa, of a woman in Europe, how to be two people at the same time with integrity, without deceit, fully inhabiting both the one and the other. Through the theatre, she is able to embrace this duality, to turn it into the strength to build the life of a woman with whom she can relate. With a strong pinch of humour and distance, she plays – not without irony – the heroines who have inspired her, Helena from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Sophocles’ Antigone or Penthesilea, the famous Queen of the Amazons brought to life by Kleist.
