You have versatile musicians, and you have Abel Selaocoe. The South African cellist moves effortlessly between the most divergent genres, from collaborations with global music musicians and innovative projects with beatboxers to dizzying interpretations of classical concertos. So it will be no surprise that the three friends who surround and embrace him in this concert are musicians from different backgrounds. The soprano and composer Héloïse Werner flirts with audience expectations like a modern Cathy Berberian, and the percussionist and composer Bernhard Schimpelsberger also conjures surprising twists and colours out of his drum kit. At the request of Bozar and Klara Festival, the Belgian jazz pianist Fabian Fiorini completes the trio. A spontaneous dialogue between four indefinable musicians is guaranteed, but the musical language they will speak is yet to be defined.
