Acoustic Power

What happens when an orchestra takes you on a musical journey across centuries, cultures and sound worlds? From the irresistible rhythms of Florence Price and the vibrant colours of Stravinsky to the energy of Shostakovich and the contemporary sounds of Anna Clyne, Acoustic Power invites you to discover the richness and diversity of classical music.

This concert brings together works from different periods and cultural backgrounds, revealing how composers explore rhythm, movement, emotion and orchestral colour in their own unique ways. Special attention is given to women composers, celebrating their creativity and contributions to the orchestral repertoire.

Before the concert, students will take part in interactive workshops that bring them closer to the music and the orchestra. Through listening, movement and collective musical activities, they will discover how an orchestra works and how music can communicate without words.

Each participating class will take part in two 50-minute workshops at school prior to the concert. These workshops are an integral part of the programme and are therefore mandatory for all participating classes.

Schools are encouraged to register at least two classes. In this case, they can choose between two consecutive hours of workshops or two separate one-hour workshops. Schools wishing to participate with only one class are required to book two consecutive hours of workshops.

Students will have the opportunity to: 

✓ become familiar with the instruments and their role in the orchestra

✓ listen attentively to music and discuss it together

✓ discover different composers, musical styles and symphonic works

✓ actively explore elements of the repertoire through practical activities
