Bozar presents Another Body by directors Sophie Compton and Reuben Hamlyn, a powerful denunciation of the violence and humiliation enabled by the misuse of artificial intelligence as a generator of images and video. The film investigates 4chan and other deepfake platforms where images of women and girls, including minors, are uploaded and traded to produce pornographic content. The intent behind these practices is to humiliate the individuals depicted and to derive pleasure in a wholly non-consensual and abusive way.

The directors address this issue through the story of Taylor, a 22-year-old engineering student who receives a Facebook message from a friend containing a link. She clicks. What she sees is her own face staring back at her in hardcore pornography. Taylor has been deepfaked: her face has been taken from her social media accounts and digitally manipulated to appear in six porn videos without her consent. Devastated, she turns to the police—only to learn that deepfakes are not even considered a crime. She soon discovers that another student, Julia, has also been targeted.

Sophie Compton is a British documentary director and producer whose work amplifies survivor voices and challenges systems of violence. Her projects have been supported by the Sundance Institute, the International Documentary Association, Hot Docs, and many other leading institutions. Another Body, her debut feature documentary, won the Special Jury Award for Innovation in Storytelling at SXSW in 2023. She is currently working on Holloway. Reuben Hamlyn is a New York–based writer, director, and editor. Another Body is also his first feature documentary.
