‘Antwerp Symphony Orchestra & Elim Chan’

1 Oct.'22
- 20:00

Chief Conductor Elim Chan will be flanked by Patricia Kopatchinskaja, who has been called the ‘most exciting violinist in the world’. Kopatchinskaja will take you on a wild ride in Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 1, which is equal parts subtle and stormy. But first, the orchestra will treat the audience to the world premiere of Dansereye by Joris van der Herten, winner of the Peter Benoit Prize 2021. The centrepiece of this concert is Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, also dubbed the ‘Titan’. Mahler’s masterful orchestration describes the awakening of nature at the earliest dawn in a passionate hymn to earthly life.
