Anyone who, as a Muslim, kicks the bucket in Belgium, saddles their next of kin with a dilemma: ‘Do we bury them here or in the country of origin?’ Ishmael, who inherits his father’s repatriation business, finds a solution: what if we bring soil from Morocco to bury our dead in it? 

After their acclaimed first feature film Black and their Hollywood debut with Bad Boys for Life Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are back in Brussels with their series Grond ('Soil'). The series combines drama and humor with all the sensitivity and tenderness needed to deal with the delicate subject of expatriate Muslims’ funerals.
