Asaf Avidan

Following a series of intimate solo shows, singer-songwriter Asaf Avidan is once again performing with a full band. On Sunday 8 November, he will be stopping off at Bozar in Brussels for an impressive live show in which he will bring together his iconic songs and new music.

The New York Times once described Avidan as “an artist who writes like Leonard Cohen, sings like Robert Plant and has the presence of a cabaret dancer”. But above all, he has always remained true to himself: a creative storyteller with unparalleled emotional depth, who turns every show into an unforgettable experience.

In 2012, Avidan found himself in the international spotlight when a remix of his track ‘One Day / Reckoning Song’ became a global hit. His solo debut ‘Different Pulses’ (2013) was an instant hit: his introspective lyrics and piercing voice struck a chord. Since then, he has explored diverse musical paths on each album, ranging from folk and indie to blues rock, pop and even hip-hop influences on his most recent album ‘Anagnorisis’ (2020).

Both in the studio and on stage, Avidan remains true to his idiosyncratic approach: no computers, Auto-Tune or lip-syncing. As a result, he quickly established himself as one of the most compelling performers of his generation, with an almost mythical stage presence, singing straight from the heart and authentic to the core. Asaf makes full use of the full range of his voice, from piercing falsetto to theatrical baritone to his signature androgynous sound.
