Emmanuel Pahud, Anneleen Lennaerts & Mozart / Beethoven

Mozart wrote his soft and melodious double concerto for a French duke, who played the flute, and his daughter, who played the harp. Combining these instruments was unusual in Mozart's time, as both the harp and flute were still being developed. However, Mozart was never paid for the work he was commissioned to do, and the composition lessons he gave to the daughter were ultimately disastrous, both financially and in terms of the result; according to Mozart, the daughter had no talent. More talented soloists for this performance could not be found, namely the French-Swiss flautist Emmanuel Pahud and the pride of Belgium, harpist Anneleen Lenaerts. Beethoven's joyful Fourth Symphony is also on the programme.
