Rachmaninov 2
“No instrument sounds as human as the cello,” wrote Dvořák. It is this warm, deeply human voice that leads his famous Cello Concerto, where joy, tension and lyricism intertwine. Star cellist Anastasia Kobekina lights up the stage with a tone that both whirls and settles, blending exuberance with serenity. Vasily Petrenko then unleashes Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony: a vast, monumental romantic breath in which melancholy and hope endlessly seek one another. Music that does not merely sound, but moves intensely and carries you along without letting go.
