To mark the 40th anniversary of ONDRAF/NIRAS (The National Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials), the Belgian National Orchestra is creating a new performance with visual artist Eva L'Hoest, who is an expert in 3D design and computer graphics. She investigates the challenges that the nuclear waste currently being generated poses for both contemporary and future generations on the basis of four works from the 20th-century classical music repertoire. In addition to work by Glass and Stravinsky, we will immerse ourselves directly in the reactor vessels of the nuclear plants that electrify our society with Liquid Marble by composer Anders Hillborg. Sibelius' symphonic poem The Swan of Tuonela transports us to a future where people no longer exist in their present form, and nature has resumed control of everything.
