‘Bernard van Orley's Ear’

Huelgas Ensemble - Paul Van Nevel

This concert is an all-in-one experience, an absolutely unmissable event and a feast for the ears and eyes.

This evening, the Huelgas Ensemble will elevate Renaissance music to its rightful place. Take in the music of, amongst others, Josquin Desprez, Pierre de la Rue and Matthaeus Pipelaere as you gaze at Bernard van Orley’s stained glass windows in the Cathedral of Brussels. From a young age, this multi-talented artist led one of Brussels’ greatest studios and worked at the court of Margaret of Austria and Mary of Hungary. Greatly influenced by the Brussels tradition and its ‘narrative style’, Van Orley seemed to have the exceptional capacity of incorporating the art of his time - primarily inspired by Rafaël and Dürer  ̶  into a new style, in the most personal and inventive of ways. This concert is an all-in-one experience, an absolutely unmissable event and a feast for the ears and eyes.
