‘Black String, SINNOI & Toine Thys - Contemporary Korean Traditions’

As a fitting end to the 120th anniversary celebrations of diplomatic relations between Belgium and South Korea, Bozar brings together leading musicians from both cultures. Drawing on traditional Korean music and its focus on improvisation, Black String creates a unique musical language where age-old and contemporary sounds merge in a common creative impulse. The quartet notably excelled at the WOMEX 2016 and Babel Mad Music 2017 festivals. Up next is a thrilling encounter between the voice, double bass and electronic sounds of the Korean trio SINNOI, and the saxophone of Toine Thys, a Belgian musician open to the diversity of multiple musical horizons.
